Tom Tinsdale

Whatever happened to Martha's husband Tom, the first mayor in the Good Witch movies. Is Martha a widow too?

reply

I see the character was last seen in "The Good Witch's Family" and there was some separation. Sounds like they got divorced.

ETA: The show made a passing reference to the mayor's "husband," so maybe they are still together.

At least they addressed Derek's girlfriend's departure though. Count me in as missing Tom as well.

reply

how did they address Derek's gf? I thought he married someone (pie lady?) so was surprised when he told Cassie he was alone.

^ This. Nothing else was mentioned about her departure, other than "she left town." It was in The Good Witch's Family.

Martha's boys haven't been mentioned since that first movie, either, have they?

Tom was one of those characters that I would have liked to see stick around. The whole premise of Cassie being Mayor was kind of ridiculous. And then Martha is Mayor....why? I also liked the girl who owned the bake shop and thought she would have been a nice character to keep since she owned a social hub (the bakery/cafe) of the town. Too many changes, in my opinion.

I like to see him back too.good witch series is added to the credit list in the actor's profile.so I thought he might be there, maybe in future episodes.but Im not sure,Im afraid

He's a good actor and nice guy, but changing some of actors, roles and story line was a smart idea. Change can be good.

reply

Last night's episode, there was a brief reference to to the mayor's husband (which unless she got remarried -- which is a tad bit possible, is Tom Tinsdale) being the town's legal counsel or some such position.

reply

Yes, it was in reference to the zoning issues. I thought they said he was on the zoning board.

reply

She mentioned him again (not by name, I don't think) talking about an anniversary gift on the show last night. (4/4/15)
And they did separate in one of the movies but Cassie worked her magic and they reconciled.

Still no mention of those darn kids! LoL

They have no need to have Martha be divorced. It would be a dead end at this point in the show, and making her a widow with Cassie would just be redundant.
But by only mentioning him in passing they save on another actor's salary since he's never seen on camera regularly while it's open for him to make an appearance when/if necessary to the story.

After he retired from public office he wasn't a key player anymore and totally not relevant to anything since.

I do think they need to bring him up more often though.
Married people mention their spouses in the course of daily conversation, it's only normal.
Shoot, Jake is dead and we hear more about him!

That's true in most cases. However, Martha thinks she's the center of the universe so she might be the exception rather than the rule.

In yesterday's episode she said that Tom bought her an urban assault vehicle.

Yes, he's been mentioned a couple of times now. But I thought the above poster was saying he should be mentioned more because people often talk about their spouses in casual conversation. I was agreeing that is normally the case, but you might not get the same thing with someone like Martha who is totally wrapped up in herself.

reply

Jake is a special case -- he's the husband of the main character and was a major fixture in the town. This guy isn't really that important & we don't hear much about Martha's personal life as is. It's okay.

reply

Looks like he's coming back in the next episode!!
