I havn't seen any of the movies, so this show really is my first introduction to Good Witch. Catherine Bell is very enchanting to watch. And the show reminds me a lot of Ghost Whisperer, which I loved as well. It's a fun coincidence they both share the same initials :-)
The almost cartoon-like character of the mayor is a delight to watch.
These kind of shows are a nice change from all the procedurals and action hero shows.
I'll definitely be checking out the movies, and I hope the series gets a good run.
I really liked it too. I tuned for James Denton originally but I think it's a good show. I never saw any of the other Good Witch stuff, but some of the naysayers on this board are a little bit fanatical
I liked it a lot, too! Of course i had no idea about any movies or books with the same concept and characters, so i could care less about this "jake" character, but as i understand it, if he was alive, the whole story of the series would be different so.. Is all good.
I am going to chime in and say I really like the series AND the changes. I have been a huge fan of the Good Witch movies since the very beginning, and every year I look forward to the latest installment. Honestly, I have always thought that Chris Potter (Jake) was a bit lackluster and not the best match for Cassie. I felt (before there was ever an inkling of a TV series) that there could've been better casting of Cassie's significant other. That is just my personal opinion.
I understand Chris Potter had other commitments and could not do the series. I think the show did a great job with casting James Denton...and I think he is a better, feistier match for Cassie Nightingale. The series needed some type of shake up and Cassie having a potential love interest is not the worst thing. I also like the re-cast of her stepson.
The Good Witch movies often dropped what I felt to be significant plot lines from one movie to the next. However, I feel they are trying to hold true to the spirit and whimsy of the series. I appreciate that Cassie is back in Grayhouse - I hated when she moved into a different house when she married Jake. A huge part of The Good Witch's charm is that house. Anyway, I may be in the minority but I have no complaints so far and I'm going to give this a chance... I just hope this doesn't mean there aren't any more movies. :/
The reason the other movies aren't released in full series, is because the Hallmark channel is still making money by showing them. These movies are still popular, and haul in big ad bucks.
I have watched all but one of the GW movies and I can't wait to get my hands on the dvd soon so I can start watching the series! Aussie fans miss out on everything!
Yes, it's a really nice alternative to dark, gritty, violent movies and shows. It's an escape to a place I'd like to live and nice people I'd like to be friends with.
