I'm so disappointed with the series

I have loved and followed the good witch movies since they premiered in 2008... I eagerly awaited each new movie every October. When I heard hallmark was making this a series and making it without Chris Potter, I was so disappointed. I watched the first season, then I watched the Halloween special and it's just not the same. The fact there's not a lot of activity on this board confirms to me it's not that popular with its audience. I watched the season premiere last night, Sunday, April 17th and I was completely bored. In my opinion, hallmark should've kept going with a new movie each year. I do not care for James Denton in this role as he does not have the same chemistry with Caherine Bell as Chris Potter had. I'm tired of Abigail's weird and quirky games.... I miss the original Brandon too. I love any scene with Catherine Disher, she's hilarious in her role. Unfortunately, I will no longer follow this series as it has lost its "magic".?

awwww i'm sorry you don't find the series as magical as the movies! Chris Potter was still on his other Canadian show which is why he couldn't be in the series!

I personally LOVE how they have transformed it from an annual movie to a weekly episode- I think I have watched season 1 about 5 or 6 times since October!

People don't really come on IMDB= twitter however exploded during the premiere- there were plenty of people watching don't worry about that!

I am also enjoying the series.

@rissole65- I'm glad you still enjoy the show... Lol, I'm not on Twitter nor do I have any desire to be but I'm glad there was buzz and activity about GW! Who knows, perhaps I'll give it one more shot before I completely give up! Thanks for your input?

No problems!

I am a HUGE Catherine Bell fan so I will watch anything and everything she is in!

I enjoy the show as well and wish the people that loved the movies would let it go already. The guy who plays Jake didn't want to be on the show, and they had to kill him off. I've seen a few of the movies and Chris Potter does well, but I didn't think it was that much of a big deal

James Denton is good, it is hallmark writing so there's only so much the cast can do with that.

Linda is nasty, but a foe is needed.

Martha is comic relief.

But what happened to the original girl who played Tara??? The new girl looks and acts nothing like her.

Also, will the guy who looks like a mole be back? (Ryan)

reply

I was wondering the same thing about Tara. I just assumed that was his new girlfriend or something. I didn't realize that new girl replaces the old Tara. So that's funny. Now both Brandon and Tara are replaced with new actors.

Usually when a series starts, actors have to sign a contract that would require them to stay with the series for a number of years. It's a huge commitment. The girl they got to do Tara was probably not willing to sign a multi year contract, but they were desperate enough they let her come back with only a 1 year contract. And so they had to replace her in season 2.

Or maybe they just wanted someone more mid-western looking to be the new Tara. The old Tara was super Canadian.

Why do I have to let it go? It's my opinion of the show!!

reply

I agree! It takes more than one kind of magic to make a show special and one them is chemistry. As you so rightly point out, Catherine Bell had it with Chris Potter and does not have it with James Denton. So disappointing.

reply

Since I'm not attracted to men, I can't say the series was ruined because Chris left. I like the attractive women. There I said it.

The story lines are just fine, and it's fun to see the mysteries solved.

reply

To be totally honest, I have no idea who Chris Potter is. I never saw it when she was married, only since she has been a widow. So it doesn't bother me that he's no longer on. I was a JAG fan and also a Desperate Housewives fan, so I'm okay with the casting.

Boo Hoo! Let me wipe away the tears with my PLASTIC hand!--Lindsey McDonald (Angel)

Jabell... if you ever get the chance, rent the good witch movies, they started in 2008, you will not be disappointed!!

reply

All I know is I don't know how much of the annoying jealous Linda I can take with every episode. I have to fast forward every time she's in a scene.

reply

Lol yes I agree, she certainly is a manipulative one huh! She's determined I think to get her man back! And she goes out of her way to be mean to Cassie!

reply

I agree about Linda, she's totally running James Denton. I don't like Cassie cousin, she's a pain, and Cassie doesn't do much magic anymore, just stares with a grin on her face. I stopped watching.
