Why Jake?
Why on earth did they have to kill Jake off instead of that infuriating Martha Tinsdale? she has to be the most annoying woman ever, I could throw something at the TV every time she appears.

sharehaha Martha is awesome! She is such a big part of the 7 movies.
Unfortunately Chris Potter wasn't available for the series so they kinda had to write him out!

They could have used a different actor to play Jake, after all they did replace Matthew Knight who originally played Brandon. Still at least Hannah Endicott-Douglas is still in some of the episodes, that's some consolation.
shareI hate it when they replace an actor like that. They should have just written the son off the show instead of replacing him with that new guy. The new guy is great, but it's just not the same.
shareI totally agree, he didn't even resemble the original guy.
shareBrandon was a lot older and I doubt that Matthew Knight could have passed to be someone ten years older than the last movie. I think the new Brandon is doing a great job!

You may be right but they still had the same actress playing his sister Lori. I'm not sure about the ten years though, Bailee Madison was 15, if I remember correctly her character was a baby in the previous film.
shareI haven't seen the latest GW movie that came out just before the series but I agree that with Lori and even Grace the aging probably wasn't accurate :)

You may remember that Lori was about 10 years old when Cassie became pregnant, she was 16 when Grace was born, longest pregnancy I've ever heard of. I think I may have missed one as well, the 2014 film The Good Witches Wonder, Grace was played by Lily-Fay Mowbray who looks to be about 8 years old.
shareThat doesn't sound right since the actress who played Lori was 17 in the movie that Cassie got pregnant in.
shareYou're mixed up. That actress who plays Lori was around 12 in the first movie: The Good Witch (2008). Cassie didn't get pregnant until the fourth movie: The Good Witch's Family (2011). By then the actress playing Lori would have been around 16.
shareIn the last movie she was in school, pre-k or k I think, because I remember George having issues with how she was being taught.
shareI've seen about 4 of the GW movies & have requested the remaining released ones from my library, including season one which I have not seen yet. The last one I saw was them getting married. I know Jake has died & it is mentioned in the first season. But did they say how or how long has passed since he died to season 1?
shareHi SarahKSeraSera, It's been a while since I saw the film where they said he had died, but I don't recall them saying how, I would assume it was in the line of duty.
shareSail..., so he died in one of the movies? I thought he wasn't available for the series and thus killed him off.
shareCorrect - Jake was alive in the movies but had died offscreen before the show's premiere.
shareBut how old do you think Grace was when he died, did they ever say what happened?
shareJake is still alive at the end of the last movie. And Grace is a child.
A couple months later Season 1 begins and Grace is a teenage girl, and Jake is no longer with us. Killed in the line of duty.
That's all there is to the story. But Jake's death still seems fresh. It feels like Grace grew up knowing her father, and he died when she was around 12 or something.
It was something line of duty related and if I remember, the series starts about a year after Jake's death.
The actor who played Jake is in another TV series, so he couldn't do this one.
