Middleton is in the Midwest, not East Coast (that doesn't mean it shouldn't be cold, however!).
I've been trying to figure out exactly what state Middleton is in (of course, the real answer is that they won't ever say, it's just generic, but it's still fun to try to figure out from the clues).
John said that the Middleton University was a "midwest college." That means that it's in one of 12 states (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota).
Ben said that he had moved to Middleton from Kansas, so that let's that state out.
Nick said that London was "six hours ahead" of Middleton. That places Middleton in the Central Time Zone, so Michigan, Ohio and Indiana are out.
Sam's friend Doug said that he "rarely gets this far north of Chicago" That leaves out Missouri for sure, and probably leaves out Nebraska and Iowa (although technically parts of those states could be considered "north" of Chicago). That also most likely leaves out Illinois, because you can't get that far north of Chicago before you're in Wisconsin. North Dakota and South Dakota are technically north of Chicago, but that's like saying that Los Angeles is south of Wyoming. Well, yes it is, but would you really phrase it like that?
My best bet at this point in either Wisconsin or Minnesota. And considering there really is a Middleton, Wisconsin (outside of Madison), that's my choice for now until we get more information.
