How does Cassie's store make money?

I think it helps that her store is not at all based in reality.

My wife pointed out the same thing. I think Ive seen one of her workers make one or two sales in the background in two seasons now. Stop giving out candles and creams for free Cassie!

She gets a lot of income from TV adv. placement! 

She charged someone 10 dollars & I cant remember if the mayors husband had to pay but he had a receipt that Martha found snooping around for what her husband was going to get her for their 30th anniversary. It might hv been him. But your right she is always saying consider it a gift. Maybe she writes it off as charity. But seriously it is so Hallmark

Season 10 will have Cassie selling lovely junk store goods from her home (i.e. shopping cart) in an alley.

Cassie can probably afford to be generous. Her former husband Brandon was killed in the line of duty, which normally means the family is entitled to a fair-sized percentage of his salary as pension (usually until the spouse remarries), plus other benefits depending on what state the show is based in.

Cassie's rent was also very low, so her profit margin was probably fairly high. Besides, if she can get someone started with a freebie, they'll come back as a regular customer when they can afford it. :)
