Heather Has Borderline Personality Disorder

I don't think she is able to feel ambivalent about other people. She does what's called splitting. The tiniest flaw and you end up on her crap list. Without a lot of therapy, she is going to find herself alone for the rest of her life because everyone is flawed in some way. Her intense fear of abandonment is also a pretty classic borderline trait. Borderlines are often so afraid that people will leave them that they withdrawal from the relationship as a kind of defense mechanism. Most people with this disorder have a history of childhood physical and/or sexual abuse, usually at the hands of a parent. They are unable to reconcile a parent who was loving one moment and abusive the next, and it shatters their psyche.

1. I don't think anyone should be diagnosed based on heavily edited footage. I disagreed when people said Nick must be autistic, and I disagree with this.

2. She left ended things with Derek in large part because he kept yelling at her over stupid crap.

3. You don't know her or her family, so it is irresponsible to start accusing one of her parents of sexual abuse.

4. There is no evidence that she randomly leaves friendships or jobs. People I've observed with borderline personality often can't keep the same friends or jobs for very long.

5. You're using the word ambivalent wrong.

This is true in gay dating and gay marriage too. One thing goes wrong and the immediately look for somebody else.

I don't blame Heather for leaving him. It's no wonder he's not married. He's a hot head and likes to argue and complain. I wouldn't have wanted to work it out with him either. And his attitude that men age like wine and women sour like milk - what a joke. There's plenty of sucky old codgers and there's plenty of pretty older women. His generalization shows his crappy attitude.
