The Chinese wanted them to be allies, they just needed to control the situation first to feel them out and make sure they would cooperate.
shareI'm not even trying to make sense of the story. After all, this is still made by The Asylum. Probably their best work. But it's almost as absurd as "Last man on earth", it just isn't flagged as "art" and "absurdist comedy" unlike that show. I'm not always sure if it is even intentional, but it turned out that way.
This thread was meant to give everyone the chance to write about what surprised them about the show. If you are seriously trying to explain it you should find someone serious enough to listen to that; not me ;) Otherwise keep to the "I'm honestly surprised..." form in replies.
