shareSee the issue here is that Howard was not only programmed to simulate a person, but was also breaking down due to lack of maintenance. On top of that it was presented with a paradox, to follow one programmed condition it must break another programmed condition. In the end all howard did was maintaned its programing to prioritize the primary function - keeping Frank alive. Thats why it closed the door.
