Worth A Watch

The movie is a strong commentary on cyber stalking and I quite liked the it. The film gave me a very 'When a Stranger Calls' vibe. I personally like psychotic thrillers and this certainly was a good watch.

I like the fact how Ashley Benson did a role similar to her Pretty Little Liars gig, and that's what I thought going into the film.

Yes, as most of you point out that the plot does take it's time to unfold and not much really happens in this time. But I believe it shows us the dedication of the stalker and how even these mundane day to day scenarios gave the peeper his thrill.

What I loved the most about this film were the technical aspects, namely: the direction, cinematography and the editing. Every sequence flowed smoothly per my books. Each shot was from the ratter's perspective and this created the sense of vulnerability within me as a viewer. Definitely a must watch at least once.

However, the film took it's time to give us the creeps more than the thrill. Some particular scenes were especially disturbing to watch and they made very good use of the set design (the upstairs et al) by acquainting the audience with the apartment.

I have yet to watch Alone With Her as most of you have recommended. I hope it's as good as you folks suggest. Also, Colin Hanks is always a delight to watch.

Cheers.

I agree. This is a subtle, slow-burn cyber thriller on par with Open Windows, but with a totally different vibe. A sense of paranoia is conveyed through everyday locations. If you're looking for overt scares this isn't for you, but if you want a (apparently) realistic story of a woman terrorized by an infatuated stalker, then Ratter does the job.

I felt genuinely uncomfortable for the last 30 minutes in particular, and the story up until then sets up the characters (some of whom never make an on-screen appearance, which was creative) to make that suspense possible.
