Dead Rising, but no Left For Dead???

Left 4 Dead would not make for an interesting movie. There's honestly nothing to work with. The games feature virtually no story. It's just 4 survivors trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. That's been done many times already.

You can stretch this logic to just about any movie or television show. Why do we need The Walking Dead if George Romero already made a handful of movies about surviving the zombie apocalypse? Why bother with vampire fiction if Bram Stoker and Anne Rice pretty much got it covered?

Eh, you could turn a potato into a movie as long as you make it interesting; the same can be said of Left 4 Dead. Sure a Left 4 Dead movie might suck, but its not cause it's already been done. A good writer can spin an existing property add relevant themes, tweak plot points into something original even if some of its components are less-than-original and - in truth - there are no new ideas anymore. Writers have boiled down the entirety of human literature down to 30-some-odd plot points (i.e., the hero sets out on a journey; the hero sets out to seek revenge; the hero seeks absolution; etc...).

As long as a potential Left 4 Dead movie maintains some semblance of quality, such as decent writing, decent acting, decent action, it will be received just fine I wager.
