What would Kevin Bacon of done if he ended up killing that other guy without getting shot? Would he really of brought the kids home safe? Obviously we know he's a crooked cop, but that doesn't mean he would of killed the kids

I don't usually like to correct people online but this was painfully hard to read. You're probably a smart person but it's stuff like this that people will use to judge your intelligence.
And to answer your question - I think the plan all along was to kill the kids. There was no way he was going to let them go.
You know IMDB is on thing called internet which is accessible outside of US and English speaking countries, right? I don't really care about people who judge intelligence of person based on grammar, since not all of us are native English speakers or even if I know how to write something I often surf from mobile where prediction sometimes fill different word than I intend.
As for kids, I don't really think he planned to kill them if they would leave body in trunk. Now when he find out the body is outside I ain't so sure anymore, but still think he would just scare them not to tell about it to anyone instead of wasting two kids, they were quite easy to manipulate, he could get them on idea he just killed bad guy, after all he is sheriff.

It would depend on how much they knew. If at all possible he would not want to kill the kids.
Killing 2 kids brings a huge investigation, loads of heat and lots of chances for him to be arrested.
To the kids the guy in the trunk was obviously a bad guy, Bacon could possibly spin it to them in a way that they didnt think Bacon had done anything wrong.
For me its 50 /50 - there are risks in killing them and risks in letting them go.

I can't say, for certain. I guess it depends on why that man was in the trunk. my gut tells me that those kids would have had a little "accident." there's no way he could risk them revealing details about the incident. he might stage it so it looked like the man in the trunk killed the kids.
