When they step off of the elevator...

And they see the massacre that’s going on, people getting throats slit and people getting riddled with bullets...and they both just quietly, slowly, take a backwards step back into the elevator, push the elevator down button, with those horrified looks on their faces...that is one of the funniest subtle comedy scenes I’ve ever seen. It’s absolutely brilliant and hysterical!

Both Crowe and Gosling were great in this movie, and both of them nailed that subtle terrified look and you could tell how much they wanted to get the hell out of there, but not completely flip out, because they didn’t want to look like a pussy to the other guy. 🤣

I don’t care if anyone responds to this post...I just want people to know how incredibly funny that scene is to me. Great underrated comedy.

That was one of the few decent scenes in the movie. But it happened so fast and with no explanation I didn't know how to react. It wasn't 'til later I even figured out who was being killed... and am still puzzled as to why.

I don't see the writing as even competent. I didn't get invested in any characters and thus didn't really care - though I wanted to - when various ones died. Plus the place was littered with incidental carnage of innocent bystanders, kids acting in and exposed to porn, unlikable main characters, weak plot. Overall... Feh!

I was hoping - maybe - the film was itself the story's maguffin - a coded message about who's involved in child sex trafficking, but if so, it's too deeply encoded for me.
