The ads themselves were pretty good, they just didn't get played that often. WB has this problem where they place all their money in the wrong projects. Last year, they pushed San Andreas hard even though they had an actual Oscar winner in Mad Max. This year, they pushed Legend of Tarzan, a movie no one wanted, and ignored Nice Guys, which could have appealed to a wide audience and done very well. They also placed it at entirely the wrong time of year. Like, you're putting it up against Civil War? What the f#ck? A July or mid-August release would have been much better. It would have stood out against a really mediocre summer movie season.
