Maybe this is the best strategy for Disney at this point...

Make one more Anthology movie that ties up the loose ends that they stupidly left open at the end of Solo, then just take a break (that'll be the end of this Han Solo storyline that no one asked for). Let the fans recuperate from the damage of The Last Jedi, and spend that time drafting a story that is actually coherent and relies on a strong story and characters rather than social justice messages and fan service, then in 2023-2024 or so then release Episode IX. Right now we are being bombarded with crap, they need to go slower and put more time, thought and creativity into these movies.

The quicker they can make regular money the better from their point of view...

Why wait five years to kill that elusive, wild animal, when you can eat a cow every 9 to 12 months from your farm with little effort...

Disney cares only about money, not quality.

Silly me, I was operating under the assumption that they cared about their art.

Maybe back in old days. Disney cares about making money which is why they've been rushing films, created a loot boxed game, creating a SW TV show on a new fee-based Disney, obsessed with expanding audience w/China, creating an over-priced theme park. I read KK was picking directors based on who made huge profits with small budgeted films. Even Hamill sarcastically said a film doesn't have to be good - it only needs to make money.

George Lucas cared about his art. Mean fans chased him away. :(

Yeah that is how Michael Bay, Seltzer and Friedberg lasted as long as they did. The truth is back in 2012 I knew this was going to be a horrible idea but even I didn't predict these movies would be this bad.
