Why can't we get a Theatrical Blue Ray release of the Original Trilogy?

The way the movies were before GL went in and retrofitted a bunch of CGI junk in them? Worse being the cantina singer and the Sarlac and the snowman as well. god GL is a hack.

I know! I miss it so much! My theory on why George Lucas sold the franchise to Disney and put Kathleen Kennedy in charge is so people forget that he was the one who first ruined Star Wars. I think it had a lot to do with his ex-wife Marcia Lucas, who was the reason for the success of the original and George Lucas was bitter about it. Especially after the prequels. I really feel bad for the original special effects crew most of all.

I don't think it was what he intended, but it is definitely what has happened. People have totally forgotten about the bad shit George did, looking at everything through rose-tinted glasses. Plus there's just a lot of young and dumb new fans who don't have a clue.

Glad someone else realizes this - for all the good GL has done he deserves nothing but disdain for what he did with the OT. We still don't even have a DVD release ffs (just a hard to find shitty non-anamorphic Laserdisk scan).

Fox still owns the rights to A New Hope, and Disney has not bought them yet, contrary to what other people have said in this forum. So, we will have to wait to see what happens. And to think he was STILL fucking with it just a few years ago, adding the horrendous DV "nooooo" to one of the most pivotal moments, along with stupid things like rocks in front of R2 and making Jabba's door bigger.

We need this, bad. We've needed it for decades now. Jedi Rocks needs to be jettisoned into a cinema blackhole.

Get yourself Harmy's Despecialized edition.

Still not Blu-ray quality throughout, bits and pieces are from the Laserdisk/elsewhere and it's noticeable. Yes, it's the best there is currently, but it's not a Blu-ray release.

The fact that we have to resort to fans trying to fix this shit is absolutely ridiculous, and it changes nothing in terms of the situation/actual issue here. It's a jerry-rigged bandaid for a wound that only temporarily stops the bleeding, and not very well at that.
