Han v Lando sabacc was tied 1-all ...

It didn't appear that Han gave up any kind of ship when he lost the first game ... so how is it that he wins the Falcon after the 2nd game? Lando should have kept it since it would have made them square ... ?

Unless I missed something?

reply

Australian Rules Sabacc...don't fully understand it myself.

reply

When they played the 2nd game, Lando knew that Han didn't have a ship. So I assumed that they started that game owing each other nothing. It's possible that Lando wasn't worried about it since he thought he had a card up his sleeve and could win no matter what.

reply

But then he would be owed 2 ships? Either way it doesn't make sense.

reply

The result of the 1st game has nothing to do with the 2nd game. You start over from scratch. No one owed anyone anything going into the 2nd game.

reply

Lol what?

So if you play a 2nd game then you don't need to pay up for the first? ROFL - makes zero sense 🤣

reply

I don't know whether it makes sense or not. I'm just saying that that's what happened. Han walked in and asked if he could play. Lando agreed.

Lando was caught cheating, so that might have played a role in it.

reply

They also trashed the Falcon. I'm surprised Lando was so friendly when Han returned. Maybe he expected to win since he was planning on cheating again.

reply

Lando bailed on everyone when the Mauders showed up and probably thought Han and Co would have been killed, or captured and lost their entire load. So when Han and Chewie show up at his card game, he was probably worried they were going to kill him. When they were friendly and everything was cool, Lando may have figured that the least he could do would be to forgive Han his debt.

reply

Full Sabacc means double the winnings.

reply

Except full sabacc isn't a real hand - and even if it did mean double, that's what Lando gets in the first game, so Han would actually owe more and thus overall they would still be tied ...

reply

Yeah. I just made that up.

reply

Well, the whole Star Wars thingy is also all made up so you're okay. For now.
