When you still have 3 friggin Marvel movies still in theaters (Black Panther, Infinity War, Deadpool 2) and the rest being a smaller base bore (more or less).

GOOD. I actually WANT Disney to lose money on these films--enough so they either fire Kathleen Kennedy and/or de-canonize this crap and sell it back to Lucas or to someone more competent. No love lost if Disney bows out.

Personally, even though my politics may be the polar opposite of Kennedy's, as long as they produce a quality film, I'm happy. So what if Lando is open to sex with all manner of alien races or genders? Of course he would be. Do you think Billy Dee's Lando wasn't banging every dame, dude, or droid he could? Yes, Rey is female. Big deal. She's probably the best-written, most fleshed out character in the history of the Star Wars franchise other than Darth Vader. What do I care if the producer of the film has what I consider to be misguided or ill-informed political beliefs? I'd rather have the quality films we've been getting, with a dash of liberalism thrown in, than the steaming piles of crap they gave us as the prequels.

the story on me baiting queen into making a prediction was great....I specifically waited until 2 different websites predicted its was possible DP2 might open over 150 M.....I knew this would give queen confidence(as I excepted and knew all along DP2 wouldnt open that high, Queen is an idiot and can easily be manipulated)...then queen posted and bragged about the 150 Million Prediction....SO i knew it was time to strike...I wrote a long reply, talking about how scared queen was to give a prediction for SOLO...and how queen would never give any prediction for Solo, because hes afraid its going to exceed those predictions, I said what queen will do is monday quarterback, wait for Solo to open, Then try to figure out a total gross he doesnt think SOLO will make and then Hell give a prediction....
I ended by saying, Queen "Prove Me wrong" all you have to do to WIN and prove me wrong is give a prediction....just reply to this message with a prediction for SOLO and You win....

I'm always open to other peoples thoughts and might learn a thing or two from my naïve self but I've never hated on anyone personally since it's the internets. You'll be seeing each others post more often than not and everyone has their own opinions on said movie. No need to attack each other over said movie also but from the looks of it, the reviews are mixed at best for what seems to be a mediocre movie. I'm watching it tomorrow as well to see how bad it is so I can give my take on it.
Also, I think it's kind of hard to put politics aside when they purposefully insert political agendas into the movie itself subtle or not.

I see the new films receiving high critical praise, and high audience ratings. I hear a tiny but vocal minority whining about politics. I see the new films making over a billion dollars each. I also recall Empire Strikes Back making less than Star Wars, as sequels often do. I also realize that The Force Awakens was a once-in-a-generation film that made far more than any movie is likely to make in the foreseeable future. To declare a film that doesn't beat the highest earning film of all time, and only ends up 7th on the all-time list, as a failure by any measure shows willful ignorance on your part.
And yeah, if you refuse to acknowledge that what I said about Rey is objectively true based on the content of the films, there really is no point in discussing the movies. Go watch I Can Only Imagine again and wax nostalgically about the good old days.

Force Awakens was a very special case due to the time lapse, cult culture, Disney acquiring it etc. that made everyone want to see it domestically but after that, people were starting to have second thoughts. $300-400 million second thoughts on where it was going with the franchise. Right now Infinity War beats everything except domestic.
Of course The Force Awakens made more money. It was the first Star Wars movie in over 20 years. There was a ton of excitement just for that reason. No matter how good the movies (and I think both were fabulous), The Last Jedi was never going to make as much money because the casual Star Wars fans weren't as apt to see it.
If The Last Jedi wasn't very popular (and, I agree that it's really just a small minority that simply loves to hate it on-line), why did most stores sell out of Blu-Rays and DVD's the first day it was released?

To me its clear that Politics didnt have much to do with.....There is a clear portion of the audience that did not like The Last Jedi....you can not deny that....But that Portion was a MINORITY, but it wasnt Politics....It was simply The Hardcore Star Wars Fanbase....
The General Public, which makes up between 80 to 85% of the audience that pays to see these Star Wars film, unequivocally liked to love the film
But The Hardcore Star Wars fan base was clearly SPLIT....The people who did not like TLJ, didnt like it because they didnt agree with where the director took the characters and Motives, they were angry at Lukes role and Other things that they felt didnt fit with the Star Wars they knew and loved...
But simply put, the reason why the film got great reviews and great rating on every site is because These Hardcore Fans are a small Minority....

You can not look at The Last Jedi's reviews,ratings and stats without coming to an unequivocal conclusion ..The Majority liked this film....
The portion of audience that did not like The Last Jedi were hardcore Star Wars fans that felt, The story,characters and motives did not fit with the Star Wars they knew and Loved.....

And TLJ failed completeley commercially (most of its income came from presold tickets. After release the income of the movie crashed like with no other SW movie before. And at countries where the movie started many weeks after the first release the movie didnt even come close to the profit of mediocre movies!). And now there arent many presold tickets for Soylo. So where should its profit being earned :) ?
