Theories on the Millennium Falcon design?
I think it's odd, but I can role with it. However, some fans have started wondering why it looks so radically different. The Falcon made a cameo appearance in ROTS, and it didn't look as different as it does in the new Solo trailer (but it did have blue markings on it).
There are two main theories:
1. The Falcon in the Solo trailer is how a "stock" YT-1300 freighter looks, and the Falcon only looks the way it does due to Solo's "modifications". This would mean that Lucasfilm is essentially retconning the Falcon cameo in ROTS, and it will just be an Easter Egg. This would also retcon the two YT-1300 cameos in AOTC, as they both look similar to the classic design as well.
2. A "stock" YT-1300 actually looks more like the Falcon we know and love, and the Falcon in the new Solo movie is just pimped out to Lando's specifications. Once Han wins it, he removes a lot of Lando's add-ons. This could keep the the cameo in ROTS in canon.
What do you all think?
EDIT:
Pics of the upcoming toys show that the front "cargo" section is removable making the Falcon have its familiar shape:
