Theories on the Millennium Falcon design?

I think it's odd, but I can role with it. However, some fans have started wondering why it looks so radically different. The Falcon made a cameo appearance in ROTS, and it didn't look as different as it does in the new Solo trailer (but it did have blue markings on it).

There are two main theories:

1. The Falcon in the Solo trailer is how a "stock" YT-1300 freighter looks, and the Falcon only looks the way it does due to Solo's "modifications". This would mean that Lucasfilm is essentially retconning the Falcon cameo in ROTS, and it will just be an Easter Egg. This would also retcon the two YT-1300 cameos in AOTC, as they both look similar to the classic design as well.

2. A "stock" YT-1300 actually looks more like the Falcon we know and love, and the Falcon in the new Solo movie is just pimped out to Lando's specifications. Once Han wins it, he removes a lot of Lando's add-ons. This could keep the the cameo in ROTS in canon.

What do you all think?

EDIT:

Pics of the upcoming toys show that the front "cargo" section is removable making the Falcon have its familiar shape:

Not sure but covering the gap in the front of the ship prevents it from being used as a freight pusher. which had been assumed in older star wars cannon. I guess disney pissed all over that one too.

Good point.

Looks like that may be removed. It’s either a smaller freight container, or Lando added a portable dance club to the ship while he owned it.

Why is there only room for one Lego man in that Lego Falcon cockpit? Seems silly. There should be room for 4-5, right?

I think it depends on which Lego set you buy.

The Falcon in AOTC and ROTS don't have blue markings on it. They are the real Falcon we know and love from the OT.
George Lucas even confirmed this.

From www.starwars.com :
''It's tiny, but visible enough to send a warm fuzzy through the hearts of original trilogy fans. In the establishing shot of the expansive Senate docking bays, there's a tiny Millennium Falcon easing into frame. And it's not just a non-descript Corellian freighter; it's on good authority -- namely George Lucas -- that this is the infamous hunk-of-junk before it came into the ownership of either Lando Calrissian or Han Solo. Also peculiar about that shot: there are no less than three gleaming Naboo star skiffs parked on the lot. Does Padmé have spares?''

So it would seem to be that they are going to retcon the whole thing and make the Falcon in Solo to be some sort of 'stock' ship. When thinking of both option 1 and 2, 2 is the only one to make sense. For me as a fan, its important that the cameos in the PT remain preserved and are canon just like Lucas wanted it to be.
Knowing Kathleen Kennedy and her stupid Lucas Story Group however, they will retcon it, and choose option 1. Nothing is sacred to them. Just look at TLJ.

I think the front was retro-fitted to be aerodynamic. They are, after all, going to race through a dense nebula near a black hole, so it's about the same as flying through an atmosphere.

Notice that the radar dish is also lowered down flush against the hull. The ship was modified for speed, for the events of this movie.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah could be that they just pimped this one up for the race or something. Lets hope they don't fuck up the canon.
