Why not release it on May 4th?
I guess Memorial Day trumps Star Wars day? Seems like earlier would improve the odds of repeat number one box office as the competition stiffens as the Holliday approaches...

shareAs if they want to focus so much on this movie. They won't really be able to celebrate Star Wars on May 4th because Star Wars is dead to alot of fans.
sharePerfectly reasonable answer 👍
shareI wonder what they will do for Star Wars Celebration this year. And I wonder how many people will visit compared to previous Celebrations.
shareYou think a lot like I do. Honestly very interested in this and box office returns for nine. Want Star Wars to succeed...but also want to be proud of that success and my patronage. Poor showings for celebration might be the first significant sign of the damage done...hopefully it is not to late for Star Wars.
shareWell I want Star Wars to succeed but I don't want bad Star Wars movies to succeed. enduring TLJ was bad enough and killed all my hype for ANY SW movie except maybe Obi Wan, should they someday make it.
Its sad that no other studio is allowed to make SW movies... Lucasfilm is butchering the IP.
May 25, 1977 is when Star Wars first released. I know it well because I was born five days before it. This May 25 will be the 41st anniversary.
shareYeah, I thought May 25th was a bigger Star Wars day than 5/4.
shareI agree it is a major date...just figured since May the fourth was the new thing and with Disney embracing all thing new...it was a marketing ploy the younger generation would appreciate. Also thought things were pretty stale on the Star Wars boards so any topic woukd be appreciated...
