There is slavery in Star Wars, I mean it's not unrealistic. Even the Jedi respected slavery in Phantom Menace, they purchased Anakin but didn't have enough to purchase Shmi, so they left her. They knew that just "rescuing" her would be theft.
Therefore, the Jedi respected slavery.
