Looks like Disney is scrapping the Star Wars name in hopes of tricking the Chinese in watching the New Solo movie. I see dark times ahead for Disney. I hope they have Lucas on speed dial.

According to local media Mtime, Official Chinese title of Solo: A Star Wars Story is Ranger Solo(游侠索罗). And STAR WARS(星球大战) is abandoned in Solo’s local title after Star Wars: The Last Jedi flopped in China.

There are quite a few countries giving different names to this film. Here are the English translations for some:

Japan: Roguish Man-Boy of True Happy Sing
Russia: Cowardly American Shoots First!
Netherlands: Dude, What's Going On with All These Lights Mannnn...
Afghanistan: Death to America!
France: RETREAT!!!!

And here are a couple that I couldn't find the translations for, so they are in the native language:

Kenya: Click-click-tick-pop-click
Spain: El Hombre Guapo con un Pito Chiquito.

The Chinese do not like space movies, nor sci-fi...

Any movie that looks like sci-fi gets killed there... Either there is no audience (a relatively small one $30-50mm), or the studios haven't figured out how to market them, but it's a general space movie problem and not just Star Wars...

You guys are so fond of the stats i'm surprised you have not noticed this trend...

So Disney thinks the Chinese will be too stupid to know it's a Star Wars movie. LOL .If Disney really wants to fool them, they should rename it Fast and Furious in Space.
