Enough with the...

FUCKING DEATH STAR ALREADY!!! That's right...the Han Solo anthology film is supposedly going to feature the most prevalent MacGuffin in motion picture
History...AGAIN!!! And for those keeping score that will be the seventh appearance of the moon sized space station...are they going for some kind of record? If so it(like this plot device) is broken...move along...move along.

Flaming a Star Wars flick is usually far from my wheelhouse. I generally accept and enjoy the offerings I am provided, and even my gripes are far from the norm. As some examples...I did not feel my childhood to be violated buy the prequels, did not feel tfa to be a copy of anh as NONE of the classic fairytale tropes were present in the former and were the primary inspiration of the latter, and atleast when I was six and it first aired, I liked(not loved) the holiday special. But this film version of a late term abortion MUST STOP!!!

Dicey casting, questionable writing rumors (yes even with kasdan at the helm), the director straight up fired, pod racers...AND NOW THE DEATH STAR??? In the words of president Obama...come on man!

I don't even dislike the Death Star! I truly felt it was used well in all films accept rotj and tfa. I would have honestly rather they not destroyed it at the end of tfa, if for no other reason than to make it more of a "character " than a plot devise to move us from on scene or fill to the other. Any ways...my two cents worth...

Another Death star? Thats messed up. I bet this movie bombs like Ghostbusters did.

I don't mind too terribly. Star Wars has always been about technological terrors. To be fair, four of the six Death Star appearances were regarding one single Death Star, its construction, its testing, and its implementation and destruction. No doubt, if a Death Star is shown in the untitled Han Solo movie, it will be the original Death Star.

Episode II - Death Star Plans
Episode III - Death Star under construction
Rogue One - Death Star
A New Hope - Death Star

Return of the Jedi - Death Star II (larger than the original Death Star)

The Force Awakens - Starkiller (Just a weapon build into a planetoid, not fully superstructure unlike the previous Death Stars. The name is 'Starkiller' because Abrams apparently realized during production the name Death Star II was already taken.)

My only gripe is Abrams killing off Starkiller in the first movie. This thing should have been in all 3 sequel movies, instead we'll probably see another technological terror in IX, perhaps twice as large as Starkiller...

Totally agree...especially with star killer needing to be in atleast the first two but three would not disappoint. My issue with Death Star in this movie is strictly a timeline continuity concern.

Let me preface all this with the source of the story. Ron Howard posted a photo of a Death Star commanders helmet sitting on a console much like those found on said space station. So there is no confirmation the the actual Death Star will be depicted, but overwhelming fan speculation supports this notion. Even if this is the Death Star, it could be in an early stage of construction and as long as Han never sees or hears about it...I guess I'll be cool with it...but then don't we end up with another rehash of the same, tired, fan servicey plot device we've seen so many times before? Only time will tell
But...I've a bad feeling about this (could not resist!)

Oh, and Starkiller is an homage to the original script treatment of Star Wars, where we the audience follow the adventures of Luke Starkiller on an intergalactic mission to restore peace to the Galaxy! Still gives me goosebumps after all these decades...

This movie is strictly fan service for the fan boys and girls. Its going to have so many cliches it will make it stupid.

reply

There is a little room between 'and' and 'girl' that would house another 'fan' if you think that would make you argument more credible...and your post is totally void of clichés and still manages to sound stupid...huh?

reply

I agree, your post is pretty stupid, but oh well.

Guess it figures that when you can't write you can't read either...are my tax dollars responsible for your poor education? Probably not...you are most likely just another example of uncle/daddy and sister/mommy being just bad biology!!! Ah Appalachia!!!

reply

I have never been to the Appalachia Mountains yet but I plan to sometime in the future. I might also go to DollyWood.

reply

Well there is a reason for your never having been there...they don't exist! The mountain range I believe you refer to are the Appalachian mountains...Appalachia is the region for which they reside. There is good news however...they have a nickname that is much preferable to the linguistically challenged...the Smokey mountains...is that not much easier for your inarticulate mouth to say...I knew it would be!!!

Tomorrow's lesson will be redundancy. A fine example would be...Bubba has never Been there yet. Do you hear how clunky that sounds when you say it out loud? You probably do not as you...well...obviously need some assistance with these things.
A better way to communicate the exact same idea would be... I have never been there, but intend on making the trip. OR I have yet to make the journey, but would like to one day. We'll get you there someday!

reply

I still think this will be the first failed SW movie ever. I just don't see many people wanting to see this.

Say hello to Dolly's mountains.

Let's be honest: what imagination this franchise had was primarily reserved for "The Empire Strikes Back."
