I really like Noe's other work, but this one is a terrible bore. The dialogue is bone-crunchingly awful and the sex is at best gimmicky and at worst comical. Clearly the director was aiming for a more intimate and romantic mood that usual. But unfortunately he has missed badly and has succeeded in proving that he can only work in a darker palette.

Part of my mind was asking "when is this going to end?" through much of the film.
