Is it me or does the movie imply that Oscar turned into Murphy after he reincarnated in the past film?

For a couple of reasons:
Murphy has the LOVE hotel from the model city in his apartment
During one of his trips we see the same (shot) from Enter the Void
They just kind of look alike

However, since Murphy is clearly an American, it would be unlikely that they had moved from Tokyo to America, or maybe they did eventually
Could it be?

I personally just think the love hotel model in the room was just a nod to Gaspar's previous film. There's a few others. I think the opium he had was stored in the box cover for his film "I Stand Alone", but I could be wrong. I do like your theory though. Gaspar has connected his past films in some odd ways before. It could just be more subtle here.
