This or Nymphomaniac??
Which was done better
shareNymphomaniac is far better in every way. It has a very dense and elaborate plot with many great characters and great actors playing them.
Love is thin on that front, has a very slim story and just a handful of characters and so-so actors portraying them.
"Nymphomaniac" by a landslide. It is a well-written, brilliantly acted and directed film from one of the greatest living directors.
"Love" is an uninteresting slice of provocation from a director with a cool visual style but, most of the time, very little substance to his creations. The acting is horrid, and although there are a couple of visually arresting moments in the movie, it is obvious that its sole existence is the excuse to shoot (no pun intended) a 3-D cumshot scene. Somebody oughta do it, and it had to be Gaspar.
Without you, today's emotions would be the scurf of yesterday's.
nymphomaniac.
shareNymphomaniac. I think overall Gaspar is a better director but 'Love' just seemed like it could have used just a liiiitle but less on the *beep* and a little more on story.
I live Gaspar's style and everything but it just needed ac little more depth. The sex scenes in Enter the Void were in a much deeper and symbolic context then the entire movie. It was good tho
Niphomaniac es a very entertaining story and the sex scenes don´t become that tedious, "Love" doesn´t even have an egaging story, the flasback narrative fails miserably, trying it linear would be much clever, and contains a lot of innecesary excess and the characters are pretty annoying. Nimphomaniac is hugely better.
shareNymphomaniac hands down! Love really wasn't very good which is a shame really as i liked Enter The Void, I stand Alone and Irreversible. Lars Von Trier is one of the greatest living directors so it not that much of a surprise its better anyway.
