Are they going to break up Shafe and his wife?

It seems like that's the direction they are going in by having her being involved with the Black Panthers.

I hope they don't break them up. She was involved with the Black Panthers last season too if I remember correctly

I hope they don't break them up too.

I don't think we had any indication last season that Kristin was involved with the Black Panthers. We know she did book club with a group of ladies and from her comment to Shafe about needing adult conversation sometimes, it seems as if the book club was her only outlet for that.

I also like the fact that Kristin is in school/taking classes. It doesn't seem like she was doing that last season either.

I really wonder if there is any truth to Brian's assertion that Kristin is embarrassed that Brian is a cop now that she is involved with the Panthers. I also wonder if they know she's married to a white guy. I'd also be interested in seeing Cutler's reaction to finding out Kristin is black.

I'm going to have to watch last season again.

reply

No, Jake is right. I just binged it this weekend and there was no reference to her and the Blank Panthers in the first season.

I just binged through last season and then got the on demand episodes 1 to 5 of this one. I am betting Shafe and wife will continue to have some rocky times but make it through. Not sure why but I kind of think the writers will play it with their marriage surviving.

reply

I'm thinking they will have them surviving as well. Plus it's not like now where people divorce at the first sign of trouble. What's ironic is that last week I was watching an older movie or show, (I can't remember where exactly it was but it was older) where one of the characters was saying one day there was going to be more divorces than marriages, and sadly that's true.

I remember she was involved with them to some extent , too.

We all go a little mad, sometimes.

reply

It's not just the Black Panthers, but she doesn't want him to be a cop because she thinks he can do better. Yes, I think they are moving toward marital problems in the Shafe household.

reply

Yeah I think so too. I just hope that martial problems don't equal a break up though. I think him and Krista (I think but correct me if I'm wrong) are a cute couple.

Its Kristin.

I don't mind the problems. Couples have problems. I'd just hate for them to split. I'd like to see them work through their issues. Plus if they split, I'm not sure Kristin would be around anymore. I like her and like seeing the Shafe family.

reply

Even if you take out the periphery issues, being married to an undercover cop has to be hard. I imagine the divorce rate is pretty high when one of the spouses is an undercover cop.

reply

Maybe but Shafe has been promoted to detective in the homicide division so I'm not sure he will be doing undercover work anymore or at least not on the level he had been.

And sure, "regular" cops get divorces too but that doesn't mean Kristin and Brian are doomed. Since they are a tv couple, I will compare them to another tv couple, Elliot and Kathy Stabler. He was a detective and though they had their issues and even separated for a bit, they stayed married and were together when Elliot left the PD.

It won't surprise me one bit if they break them up and get rid of Kristin. I just hope it doesn't happen. I hope the Shafes get the kind of endiing the Stablers got.
