Why Don't We Do It in the Road?

Ever notice how David Duchovny's characters seem to be involved with women who blame him for their depressed states? They have a hot romantic period, and then his woman starts complaining and blaming him for everything.

I understand that writers must develop conflict in a story, and having a couple go through tough spells makes it easier for writers to do this.
So I guess I should give them a break on this.

But I noticed at the end of this episode that Grace Karn went all negative on Det. Hodiak, whining about them not going out and how she stays home alone quite often. She speaks sarcastically about the requirements of his job and complains that being with him is no different from being with the man she just left.
He listens and then says "I get it, you want to leave and this is the story that allows you to do that."
She says "and you hurt me into it".

I thought 'damn, he goes through the same crap with women on all his shows'.

😁 It's true.

Did anyone else note the name of Charmaine's "brother" who was in Vietnam...Nichlas? If you also watch her as Rebekah on VD and TO, you know her brother was also NiKlaus. Wonder if that was on purpose or it was an off script change done by Claire Holt.

I hadn't watched VD or TO until recently and didn't make the connection of her characters. I'm glad she found work close to home. But I still hope she has more shows in s4 of TO since it is a shorter season.

You left out the part that he agrees with her.

Yeah, he always wusses out and takes the blame. His job catching murderers made him work late. He's sorry about that. It's his fault.

I think the writers think that makes him a sympathetic character. Being a nice guy makes you sympathetic; being a wuss makes you disgusting.
