The Caretaker?

Did the caretaker, who was in the Tate/Polanski guest house (William Garreson) actually say he came face to face with one of the girls that night? Or is the show just taking liberties to add dramatic effect?
Know his story has changed a few times over the years. But last I heard, he said he heard the screaming and saw his door handle turn, but nobody entered.
Also, people give this guy a hard time for not helping. But he has to be very messed up from all this. Major survivor guilt and the what if's have to be overwhelming. No wonder he is so odd now.
And as far as some saying he probably hid and is a coward. So what? I would have too. Phone lines were cut and he had no gun. If he went out there to stop it or try to run to a neighbors for help, he would most likely be dead too.
However, I do not believe he thought it was just a loud party. Those people were running outside and fighting and screaming like crazy for their lives. He was right by there, on the grounds. He knew something bad was going down and panicked. Most everyone would.

Years later Garretson admitted on a show on E! back in 1999 that he heard some of the murders being taken place. I heard that he really did come face to face with one of the girls I don't know which one, who was told to check the guest house but she lied and said no one was in there but IDK if there is any truth to that or not. This is what I pulled from an article that someone posted on a website:

However, in a 1990s E! Networks documentary about Sharon Tate's death, Garretson changed his story, stating on camera that he had first heard noises like firecrackers, and thought it was a prank pulled by Steven Parent, who had just departed. (As it turned out, the sounds were of Charles "Tex" Watson shooting Parent with a pistol.)
When shouting and screams followed a few minutes later, Garretson hid in the cottage, not wanting to become involved, or be another victim.
Garretson claimed on the TV program that he looked out from a window in the cottage to see a woman (Abigail Folger) being chased by another (Patricia Krenwinkel).
Then Garretson heard Folger say she was already dead, which understandably confused Garretson even more.
