Aquarius cancelled

shareNo big surprise. I didn't think they would renew it. To bad it was a very interesting series.
shareMaybe Netflix will pick it up.
shareI wouldn't count on it. Netflix has only revived 6 tv shows: Arrested Development, The Killing, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Trailer Park Boys, DreamWorks Dragons, and Longmire. With the dozens and dozens of shows that get cancelled every year, if Netflix wanted to revive something I don't really see why they'd single out this show.
shareThat's a lot - I had no idea they had revived so many shows. Good for them. I'm sure how expensive the show is to produce has everything to do with it and Aquarius is probably not a cheap show.
shareI agree. I would love for Netflix to pick this show up but it doesn't even have a small cult following. Except for a handful of people here I don't even think anyone knew the second season existed.
shareNot surprised, but disappounted nonetheless.
shareDamn, this should have been on a premium channel in which David Duchovny has a previous history with or, better yet, something like AMC where they are able to afford authentic vintage clothing and such for a T.V. series like Mad Men (2007).
I figured they were going to give this the same treatment as Life on Mars (2006). It's just too expensive to produce.
Oh, well...I guess this news bodes pretty well for X-Files fans? ;-)
shareI'm going to miss Aquarius but also have to say that I'm not the least bit surprised. What I found particularly interesting was that, amongst being set back in the sixties and seventies, was that while it might have a small procedural story of the week it also had a larger evolving story line. Also it followed the character of Sam Hodiak and you learned about him and embraced him as much being an on the job Detective as well a human being outside of the station who's just trying to get by. Not every procedural show fleshes out their characters in the way Aquarius fleshed out who Sam Hodiak was.
I will say I was pained by what happened to his female friend, Billie Gunderson. She was very good for him, breathed some much needed life into him and got him to live outside of being a police detective. It was sad what happened to her and how, even as a casual viewer, even I know the trauma she suffered will come to end their relationship. At least it's what I would've expected had there been a third season.
For someone whom originally was only watching because I enjoy Emma Dumont, Clair Holt and the Manson Murders fascinate me (just how crazy can one guy be, let alone those who followed him?), I have to say that Oliva Taylor Dudley and Tara Lynne Barr were nice finds and the show as a whole really was impressive if lowly rated... Old style police work, before the times of CSI reports and running to the computer to dig through some treasure trove of a police database that both all to conveniently tell the heroes what they want to see or hear...
Points taken. I enjoyed your mini review. I liked the show. I like how they portrayed that period of time. Beautifuly stylized and well acted overall. Alas, it couldn't last..
shareMy sympathies to those who liked and will miss the show.
I watched the first season and was entertained enough to finish it. Then watched the first episode of the second season, and it lost me.
Definitely sad to see this one go! Really enjoyed the feel of the show, acting, characters, etc!
shareSeason 2 was so rushed with a lot in continuity errors that I thought it had been cancelled before starting filming it.
shareI thought season 2 was rushed as well. The whole storyline where Shafe's wife leaves, the pulling in of the boy for questioning about the missing girls in the photos, the picking up and dropping of Charmaine's storylines, Walt, Opal, etc. All pretty haphazard. Despite all that, the show had a lot of merits and would definitely be better on a Netflix/Hulu/Amazon format with its short seasons and more liberties in content (language, etc.).
