Saw It & Let Me Tell You - It's Great!

The film surpasses being a quirky little movie and somehow becomes one of the most poignant dramadies you've ever seen. Sally Field is truly the star of the show. Michael Showalter's direction is pitch-perfect but Field absolutely brings it home. Can't wait for the rest of the world to embrace this picture the way SXSW did. It's more stunning once letting it resonate with you for a while. Field really does do something we've never seen her do before. This isn't all hot air. I think she'll nab a nomination for this one.

I hope Leonardo Di Caprio watches this, because that was acting

Haha. I don't know about Leo (I haven't finished The Revenant. So boring...), but I agree with you about her. She's really good in this.

The bit where she sabotages his healthy relationship with a woman who was a genuinely good complement to him, and showing no remorse - she indeed tries to take advantage of it - was especially poignant, I agree. [sarcasm font off] I know there's more to the movie than one narrative element, but I would not go as far as praising a movie to the heavens that sends toxic social signals to the audience.

I know I'll get flamed for not singing from the same hymn sheet as everyone else here, but I can not allow myself to categorize Doris with numerous other touching and dramatic films that set a much higher poignancy bar for me.
