I must have become so benumbed by all the ridiculous, so-called action sequences in this turkey to pay attention to the motivations of the two absurd villains, the General Manager and the VP of Operations, of having the rescue operation fail and letting all the trapped miners die.

What I gathered was that they were trying to cover up the fact that they paid the miners to disable the methane sensors because they knew that if this information got out they'd be fucked. If there are no miners left, there's no one to talk.

Ya I thinks that's what there were trying to do. Mass murder. But there has to be a 2nd shift right, that was told the same thing? So they would need t o murder them and all of their families as well.
Stoopid movie.

That's a good point. Maybe best to just not overthink it with a movie like this. Just enjoy Liam Neeson kicking ass and the cute Indian girl.
