Jerome sounds too much like Ledger

an actor needs to find their own voice and portrayal on a character. Not be a homage to somebody else. Mark Hamill, Jack Nicholson, and Ledger all made the character their own.

I believe he is more like Hamill... he has a mix between hamil and ledger... however he's only been doing for a short while compaired to them... but give him time and i bet it will develop even more l...

What's strange to me is that I felt Jerome had considerably more unique mannerisms in season 1-2, which left me miffed by his death and thinking of what he could do with the role. After his resurrection he acts almost exactly like Ledger. An odd case - I wonder if the directors are to blame?

Honestly, I couldn't give a damn. It's an homage toa great performance. It works. I love Ledger's Joker and loved the nasally voice he did for him.

If that voice becomes Ledger's legacy, then so be it. I don't blame the actor or people who shoot it to copy it.

I would be okay with it~

The nasally voice started with Hamill.

This right here, 100%. I thought he did a great job of not being a copy when he wasn't really the joker, just a potential joker. But now that they seem to have embraced him as Joker, he seems to be to be doing a Heath Ledger impersonation and I find it much less interesting.

I noticed that too. I don't know if that was the actor's choice or the director's, but it's a bit strange that he sounds so much like Ledger now.

I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the facial make up. Hedgers voices sounded kind of slobery, likely because his mouth wasnt closing properly. I think the same thing has happened here.

I personally think when you're playing an established character, doing your own thing or paying homage to a previous actor are both welcome. I can basically see the merit in doing either; doing your own thing gives a new spin on the character, and makes the character your own, while paying homage to a previous actor makes it more believable that it's the same character.

It's like with cover songs, in my mind, the cover artist is welcome to do anything from making the song sound completely different and making it sound exactly the same as the original. I'm fine either way.

He just came back to life, so that might have something to do with being different.

They explained in interviews and such that Jerome being stabbed in the neck has something to do with him sounding a bit different. That's also why Jerome would do those gagging noises often throughout those two episodes.

@ginn: Really? I feel that he sounds like him a little bit, but not a lot. And Ledger's version is worth imitating.
