Nah, Kris isn't necessarily wrong - really, there's more evidence supporting her interpretation than yours.
The offical IMDB statement refers to how "message boards continue to be utilized by a small but passionate community of IMDb users" but " IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users".
Nothing there about revenue, but plenty there about toxic users - like that numbnuts who was indulging in the personal attacks.
