Why did Cassian Andor shoot Saw Gerrera's rebel during Jedha battle?!?!

I have watched this film 3 times in the theater and still can't figure it out...

Anyone have any theories?! ANYONE?!?

Because Saw's rebel was just ABOUT to throw a grenade or bomb or something at the IMPERIAL tank - why in the world would he shoot the rebel and want to prevent that from happening?! It makes no sense.

HELP!

p.s. I love this film otherwise :)

Because Jyn was in the blast range of the grenade. If the guy had chucked it at the tank, it would have killed or severely injured her. Movie over.

Exactly. The grenade would've killed Jyn. He prevented it.

didn't you see Jyn right next to that tank?
