Exactly how much action is in this film?

I really want to see this movie but I'm simply curious if anyone who has seen it can tell me if there's a lot of action? The reason I'm asking is because I've read some comments from people saying that most of the action is in the second half of the film and the first act is more about the build-up with the characters/story...is this accurate?

Also, were you impressed by the action scenes or not? Thanks.

I will start by what you've heard is fairly accurate. The first half of the movie has less action than the second. But IMO that's not the biggest problem of the first half of the movie. The biggest problem is how much it hops around with changes in locales. However there is "on and off" action in the first half. There is an old saying, "Patience is a virtue". It essentially means under the right circumstances and conditions, there's a big payoff worth waiting for. And that's true of Rogue One. The second half of this movie has some of the best SW action ever! Mind you, there's almost no lightsaber action, but it's still impressive. The characters are good but there's a more adult feel. Less humor. No Jar Jar or Finn humor.

So, overall there is lots of action. But if you're somewhat A.D.H.D. when it comes to pacing and action, you might be tested and challenged for a little while.

So, basically it's true what I heard LOL. Thanks for responding, and that is interesting to know. I think there are films that I enjoy that don't always have tons of action because I enjoyed the characters or the story was engaging...so in a way I'm fine with the build-up. I really enjoyed TFA too.

It probably has the most action in a Star Wars film except maybe Revenge of the Sith. The final act has a lot of action, switching from ground combat to space and back again. It works really well and is emotional at times. Just a shame the first half of the film didn't flesh out the characters enough for me to care about them, except the Imperial droid he's awesome.

Thanks for sharing that info man. I'm sure that I'll definitely enjoy this film as well. Can you tell me what your favorite action scene was?

reply

The assault on the imperial base was awesome. Plus Vader’s last scene was brutal.

The action was the best I've seen in .... hmmm, maybe in any movie. You had the fantastic look of the original trilogy, but you also had the big sound, speed and excitement of a modern action film. It's actually quite brilliant. I was extremely overwhelmed both times I saw it.

Cool, but would you agree that the second half has the most action compared to the first?

why can't people watch what they write when someone is asking about a film they haven't seen.
