A message board for every movie out there was too good to be true. and instead of IMDb banning the trolls they instead are going to ban everyone. Ofc this has nothing to do with trolls and everything to do with revenue and cost. shame. RIP.

You really do start to realize just how good this was. A message board for not only every movie, but every TV-Show, ever game, every celebrity... it was an insane thing and it's a damn shame it's going away.

RIP.yeah, I get that the community is too small to be attractive for lucrative advertisers - but can't they at least keep basics, like Film General, Board for the big franchises like one SW board, etc-...? The system, design and layout how these forums work is unrivaled.
The very reason these boards are so overrun with trolls is precisely because the cost of hiring actual moderators to enforce the board's TOS would be astronomical.
Having a separate message board for each individual entry was highly ambitious, and it was fine for a while, but social media was really the final nail in the coffin.
