Movie companies do not like IMDB message boards?

Do movie companies no like IMDB message boards because people tell other people that certain movies are bad?

reply

I don't think movie companies care one way or the other.

I've heard it said that actors don't like the message boards - a lot of trolls on your board can make you look unpopular, so when the casting people check out your profile they'll b less likely to cast you.
IMHO there are a lot of problems with the casting system - ageism, sexism, etc - and it should be improved upon.
However, I don't think the SAG has much pull with the imdb, and even if they did they should only take down the actors' boars. After all, this is a MOVIE database.

Couldn't people easily do that on Twitter and other such places?

People like to think the online communities they belong to are important. Conspiracy websites are filled with warnings that the Government is monitoring/censoring the threads. Fans of IMDB think studio execs are frequenting the boards, sometimes changing direction in light of criticism.
Truth is, this is a small corner of the Internet and IMDB themselves acknowledges it as a forum for a relatively small number of passionate users. Studios don't generally care about opinions, they care about money and shareholders. If they cared about quality, Grown Ups 2 wouldn't be a thing.
