The significance of telling Alicia about her Father?

Is it safe to say it went from an "Accident" to a "Suicide"? We still don't know WHY the dad killed himself but presumably is it because of Nick fault? (Drugs / rehab problem) OR is it because of Madison herself? Why would the show suddenly bring that up again?

reply

Madison want her to know the truth why she is kinda neglected cos Nick takes after his father so she have to take care of Nick more but her love for Alicia isnt any less she have for Nick. She have to tell her that in case there isnt any chance in the future like how Travis regretted not telling Chris that he loves him instead of 'Goddamn u Chris!'

reply

Both Nick and his father are battling with depression. Nick pointed out to his girlfriend that his dad barely want to get out of bed some days. The only difference between Nick and his dad , is that Nick uses drugs to cope .

It was a horrible scene. Perhaps intended to huminase Madison's. But unfourtinatly it left me cold. I almost felt like she could have been making it up.
It also adds nothing to the story. A character who never met and never will meet... waste of five minutes.
Plus, I don't really feel an explanistion was needed. A parent would do anything to find their missing child. I know that and I'm not even a parent.
Why Alicia has given up on Chris is beyond me. Selfish cow!
To top it all off the the acting from Kim was poor. Perhaps this was down to direction but she didn't show any emotion. Her daughter was so distressed by the revelation...
It could all have been done much better

reply

Yes, I did feel that this revelation just floated away from the main storylines of the show, too.

However, if it comes out that Madison was more responsible for the father's suicide, it could at least explain why she is such a cold, distant person.

And by Chris I mean Nick.

But speaking of Chris. He's a bad egg. Pure and simple. I hope we never see him again!

reply

Hey, remember your dad who we don't care about and who means absolutely nothing to the audience... at all.... well let's discuss him in a really moody way as if anyone gives a shït even though it's utterly uninteresting to the viewers and inconsequential to the plot.

Maybe next week we'll discover that Alicia had a cat called Mungo and she'll discuss it with another character for ten minutes like it matters.

Who the fück writes this shït?

reply

Because it actually explains why Madison was so concerned about Nick all the time and focused all the attention to him, was not because she loved him more than her daughter but because she was terrified that Nick would end up like the dad....
And Madison knew that her daughter was "fine", on her own, but was laking some attention, obviously.
Alicia now know that, understand that her mother did that to protect the family, and that Madison is sorry that it was at the expanse of her relationship with her daughter.

reply

You're right, but they didn't need to take five minutes to do it.
