So its literally the end of the world and ...

Alicia is supposed to still care that her father committed suicide several years earlier.

Hello writers, this is supposed to be a show about the ZOMBIE F'ING APOCALYPSE, not Days of Our Lives.

These characters should be literally fighting for their lives every day.

reply

It's been roughly 30 days since the outbreak. So they still haven't quite adapted. Also, you're telling me you wouldn't be upset if you found out your dad killed himself?

reply

If the dead were walking the Earth and eating people's faces. NO.

reply

I find that unlikely. But if you say so.

reply

In the real world, finding out my father killed himself years ago would be kind of a bummer I suppose(although the way he went out doesn't make him any deader).

But in the middle of an apocalypse where I need to figure out how I'm going feed myself and the 40 odd Mexicans we just had to let in, that information would be pretty insignificant.

reply

Depends on the person, how important the suicider(?) was to them, and age.

We could be 25 years until the apocalypse but if I found out my Grandma died the same way I might not come out of my hotel room for a couple days. Most others wouldn't be that big of a deal though.

It's edited because I cant spell.

reply

No way it's only been 30 days. I'd guess 3 to 6 months.

J: You still eating? K: I'm still hungry.
T: You should lay off those candy bars.

reply

No. Check the FTWD Official Timeline. It was 25 days as of 2x08. Making it about 30 days now. Rick is still in his coma at this point.

reply

Sorry I don't buy it. Maybe it hasn't been 3 months but it's been longer than a month.

J: You still eating? K: I'm still hungry.
T: You should lay off those candy bars.

Check the wiki timeline.

I would believe the wiki timeline, but really Colonia was all dreamed up and built up so fast that it was in its current state approx. 3 weeks in to the ZA? The pharmacist has his obedient followers so fast? The crazy lady's compound was the way it was, only about 2-2.5 weeks in to a ZA? It does seem like the whole entire human adaptation is fast. I'm not sure it would play out anywhere near this fast. Though I've never gone through a ZA obviously. Of course slower might not make good TV.

reply

Also the father on the island - he'd already scrounged up all the fencing and installed the fence, only 1-2 weeks in to the ZA?

reply

No way it's only been 30 days. I'd guess 3 to 6 months.

Please explain how you arrived at this conclusion.

What events in the show have occurred to lead you to this time frame?

reply

Logically things should have taken more time than we're being shown. People walking around like they're athletes, in a world where it's near anarchy no less. Around any corner could be danger living and living dead. Even driving they should be encountering all sorts of problems that slows them down.

J: You still eating? K: I'm still hungry.
T: You should lay off those candy bars.

reply

it will tie together when the medium from new jersey shows up at the hotel and they play with her ouija board and alicia is able to communicate with her dead emo dad.

reply

I wish I could thumb up this comment. Well done.👍Oh, I can!

The writing on this show is so bad, and its so obvious they are dragging everything out and wasting time, putting in this filler about the dad killing himself just so they can string the audience along so they can get more and more money off of the advertisers / commercials. The mom is such a bad actor, she always makes that dumb smirk / half smile and looks off into the distance all of the time. I cant stand her lack of acting skills. Why didnt they show the attack on the colonie for the dope pills yet? thats how pathetic the writing is and how this show is all about making money off of the advertisers and not actually producing a quality tv show. Kill off Chris, that kid is a pathetic pssy who does anything he can to try and be cool and hang out with the in crowd, when he will never be cool, they will use and abuse his gay little azz until he is worthless and killed. lets hope sooner than later.

reply

Every time they have a new zombie on screen they're losing money. Zombie count tonight? 3 at a distance not including flashbacks in the opening. Same ol' s....tuff
I'd look off into the distance over and over too if I had to recite the utter trash the writers recovered from their industrial colon cleanse.
Gotta love it. Last week it was Madison the great leader declaring if you endanger others you gotta go before turning on all the lights and endangering others.

I didn't care for the scene, but this is actually one of the few things that doesn't feel like filler. They set it up in 2x08 mid-season premiere and continued to touch on it randomly throughout this half-season.

reply

actually Alicia's caring about that new and her reaction to it, even though it's the end of the world, is perfectly reasonable/understandable. yes there are bigger things to worry about but learning your father opted to kill himself rather than stay in your life and be your dad is still pretty heartbreaking news to hear.

reply

Yeah it's just ridiculously stupid at this point. I care more about the Hotel womans backstory, and the wedding party's backstory than I do this Emo Teen Divorced kids, broken and blended family BS.

Riddle wrapped inside an enigma, wrapped inside a taco.

yep

I never drink, wine.

When I first saw the wedding flashback scene, I thought "this is what the whole show should have been."

You know, everyday activities interrupted by the outbreak and seeing how people react and respond to it.

They could have gone on to show how she cleared the hotel and how the guests escaped the locked ball room and any number of other compelling plot lines.

The wedding party is just one story of countless stories that could have been.

But, alas, we got "Nine days later" and a bunch of nothing behind a chain link fence.

reply

the point is to explain to Alicia why Madison care Nick more than her, not that she love her any lesser than Nick. She have to clear this up because of the zombie apocalyse, its the same as saying all that needed to be said before the world ends

reply

Finding out your dad committed suicide would effect a person no matter what his or her outside world was like. Also, I feel like these characters are fighting for their lives everyday. However, that fight doesn't always directly include zombies. It includes other things like finding a place to live and deal with personal/internal struggles.

reply

And it will probably turn out that Nick figured it out immediately.

My counter argument is that I'm offended.
