Don't understand the guys that Chris was with

Ok so your buddies get wounded, why in the heck do you have to just kill them like that? It made ZERO sense that they shot the guy in the barn, then had their accident (how unbelievable was it they weren't killed/severely injured riding in the back of a pickup that rolled all those times??) and then shot and killed Chris too. I really have no idea why they felt they had to kill those guys, why couldn't they have just left them there to fend for themselves? I get they don't want any "dead weight" slowing them down, but then you go from not wanting to be slowed down, to straight up executing people cause of a broken leg or a non life threatening gunshot wound? Out of all the weak story plots, them doing that was my breaking point. There was NO reason for them to kill Chris (or their other friend in the barn)!

They were dead weight ! It's that simple . I probably would do the same

Travis offered to stay with the kid in the barn. They didn't need to kill him at all.

Or YOU would be the dead weight and end up on the wrong side of the gun. The Bros were clearly in over their heads, absolutely clueless about most things, and ill-equipped to survive...but they were too ignorant even to realize that.

Someone mentioned that they needed Chris dead for Travis' character development ... or something like that .

reply

That's not the reason for killing Chris off. It's a result of him getting killed off. Travis is going to undergo some massive changes. The bros explained that they made a pact that when it looks bad for one of their own, they will put them down so they don't turn. Chris was definitely not gonna make it. I too found it ridiculous that he bros didn't get killed from the crash though. I guess they were thrown from the vehicle before the roll overs

OP , this was asked in another thread when the men shot their first friend, and no one had a rational answer.

I doubt you'll get one here. The writers clearly wanted to set up the finale death of Chris but didn't bother to make the young men's motivation credible or ascertainable.

People are making up their own views and imposing those on the men, but the reality is that writers must externalize psychology creatively and they did not.

If someone is dead weight slowing you down, you leave them. You don't kill them. IF the men subscribe to an ideology that warranted killing that should have been symbolized, hinted at or stated. That's what good writers do.

I wish I could give you a +1. Thank you for the rational, cogent, non-trolling answer; one that actually makes sense in this cesspool of human consciousness we call IMDB.

Your answer was my initial thought, but I thought I would ask in case there was something I was missing.

I see there wasn't

It was a mercy killing , The Guys said they make a pact if anyone is dying they will make sure the dying one will not turn into Zombie.

Chris knew what those guy were , and he chose to ride with them.
Chris is at least 60 % responsible for getting kill by his traveling companion.

The bromigos have a fratboy mentality. They never really did think things out. For them, cruising around with a beer is what life is about.

Oh no, not this again. As Synthia stated, this was discussed pretty extensively in another post not too long ago. Here's a link to it:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3743822/board/thread/261746500?p=1

One of the more hotly contested topics, to say the least.

Had no idea there were open threads on this topic already, so sorry for making another one.

HOWEVER, since YOU pointed out there are multiple people asking the same questions, INDEPENDENTLY, of each other, that should be a huge clue that this story arc wasn't written very well, and if the show producers, writers, etc. want to keep viewers watching they need to tighten things up. If there's a common perception of a plot hole, it's not IMDB poster's (and more importantly, show viewer's) fault for noticing and wanting to talk about it
