No, Season ONE Travis' personality was too passive. He's nowhere the same pacifist in Season 2 that he was in Season 1. In Season 1, he didn't even want to kill people that had obviously turned. Season 2 has shown him become more and more pessimistic and making compromising decisions.

-Season 1 Travis would have SAVED those boat refugees and allowed them on the Abigail. Season 2 Travis agreed with Strand to just leave them

-Season 1 Travis would have INSISTED to put Alex and the boy on the boat. Season 2 Travis compromised and said to tow them to San Diego and drop them off.

The common thread is that even though Travis was doing these compromising things, he hated having to do them and it showed through his character. Even though he went with some of Strand's decisions, he still disliked Strand immensely for the type of opportunist he is. That's human nature. Travis isn't like Strand, so he's not going to like him automatically just because he has to go along with him.

But ignoring all of that, after what Travis went through with these guys, the way they essentially took his son away from him and were mocking him and digging at him the whole time ordering him around, THEN they killed his son, who he promised Liza he would protect at all costs, you don't think that would cause him to snap and let loose, especially on a couple of guys he despised?

Travis finally grew balls by killing them. they would have taken advantage of the hotel people and probably killed good people if Travis wouldnt stop them.
