Was the double finale aired last night instead of airing them out...

as two normal single hour episodes due to AMC deciding there needed to be a three week break between FtWD and TWD's season 7 premiere because they are afraid of Walking Dead burnout?

I can understand a longer than one hour season finale which can be normal operating procedure but this was definitely two separate episodes.

I'm pretty sure it's because the ratings are piss poor.

"Piss poor." Its ratings are phenomenal compared to most Cable TV show ratings. Know what you're talking about BEFORE you start typing.

FTWD ratings are like 3.5 million per episode. Not really standout on cable anymore. TWD episodes get like 12 million for example

It's not really fair to compare to TWD, since that pretty much destroy everything on cable. 3.5 on cable is still very good.

the main reason is probably the presidential debate next Sunday night.

I think it's because AMC is re-running all past seasons of TWD leading up to the season 7 debut, so they need enough time for all 6 seasons.

I think there is another presidential debate next Sunday, the 9th. They may not have wanted to compete with it, so they aired the season finale last night.
