"Travis left Chris" with The Bros

Both Madison and Alicia said that in the season finale, as if Travis just got fed up with Chris and said, "See ya, I'm gonna abandon you and go walk off alone while you travel the perilous, lawless Mexican countryside with two massive idiots. Have a nice life!"

This is a repeating thing in the Walking Dead, where characters seemingly cannot or do not communicate simple things. It's like Rick and his group when they first get to Alexandria, and the Alexandrians don't know why Rick's people are so on edge and suspicious.

Half their problems could have been avoided with a simple explanation: "Hey guys, we're sorry that we're jumpy and suspicious of you, but we literally just escaped from a group of cannibals who ate our friend, and before that we encountered several other groups of psychopaths who killed our other friends. We know how insane and dangerous it is out there, while you guys have been behind your walls this whole time, so be patient with us."

There's a huge difference between "Travis abandoned Chris" and the story we saw, which was Travis losing his grip on his son, Chris believing his dad was too soft for the new world, and Travis literally begging Chris to stay with him as The Bros took off and left Travis alone on a farm with no vehicle.

People would've been a lot more sympathetic if they knew the idiot Bros killed their own friend, even though Travis was tending his wounds, and turned gullible Chris against his dad.

But nah...they just let everyone believe Travis abandoned his kid with two paste-eaters, then went ballistic when he heard his kid was dead.

From day one, this show lacked communication. Madison watched her neighbor get attacked but said nothing to Alicia. Some said she was trying to "protect" her kids but ummmmm, not telling them made things more dangerous! If people were turning into cannibals you bet Id tell my teenage daughter to stay the *beep* away yet Madison said NOTHING. She saw her neighbor stacking up water in his car ready to dash yet they just looked at each other without any discussion about what's happening. NORMAL folks would TALK to each other and say, " hey, do u know what's going on? Have u heard anything?" NOPE. Not to mention they never once turned on the tv to find out what's happening.

I agree totally. Good catch on that Alexandria scenario. So many things like this happen on both shows and I tend to write them off but you are absolutely correct. Even without all the backstory, just saying that Travis "abandoned" his son is way off.

It's crazy because the writers on both shows use the lack of communication to fuel the drama, which only makes the characters look stupid. How can the audience empathize with characters who get into tough situations because of their own stupidity?

Even with Victor, they could have gotten him on Travis' side by telling him what actually happened -- that the "bros" literally turned Chris against Travis and took him away, leading directly to his death. That they killed two of their own close friends because they were too stupid and impatient to let them heal from non-life-threatening wounds. That they were responsible for the death of an innocent farmer. I mean, the facts show that those guys were dirtbags and deserved what Travis did to them...and if Travis had not killed them, they certainly would have gotten more people killed.

I never got the impression that Travis got into that much detail about what happened even with Maddie. By all means, he should have. But instead they painted him as being in shock and not wanting to talk about it.
