The Nick-Colonia storyline was crap

Sorry, but I don't get the love for Nick on this series. He was good in Season 1 because he seemed like a believable character, a drug addict amidst the craziness of the apocalypse and still making dubious decisions that one would expect an addict to take. I loved the scene where Madison slapped the sh*t out of him because THAT felt believable.

However, Season 2 Nick may actually be the worst character and in the running for worst acting as well. Making Nick a "star" of his own storyline was an awful idea. None of his scenes with Alejandro resonated. The ONLY interesting part of Colonia was the Nick-Luciana romance and that was mostly because it had moments of levity and Luciana came across as more likable in the romance parts than as a badass leader. But Nick, who somehow was weaned off of his addiction in a mere few weeks, seems unconvincing.

The problem is that Nick is an addict in recovery. Addicts are very prone to latch onto things that they perceive as giving them stability, even if to the outside world it is patently a bad idea. So, when the people in Colonia, and the Abigail house before that, talk to him about death not being the end and the walkers having religious significance, he latches onto that. He's not stupid in the slightest, but he just displays issues with dealing with the practicality of reality, and that makes for difficult TV when he is expected to carry an episode.

What's unrealistic about a suburban junkie white kid from LA negotiating hard face-to-face deals with Mexican Cartel enforcers, & bagging the hottest chick in the pueblo?

You know what... don't answer that. Typing it all out kinda cleared things up for me
