How the pharmacist survived for so long

Here is a potential explanation for how the pharmacist survived for so long after being bitten:

Similar to how people actually start to believe a lie after telling it for so long, the pharmacist began to believe he truly was immune after pretending to be for so long.

This belief, in turn, caused a psychosomatic effect on his body which boosted his immune system, and helped to stave off the infection for far longer than most people would be capable of.

He wasn't bitten by a walker but a living human.. A lie he allowed to grow into legend..

reply

I think the OP is referring to the "second" bite which was the first walker bite and not the junkie that bit him at the start of zombie apocalypse.

It's edited because I cant spell.

People can survive for days after a bite..

reply

Again I think the OP is referring to the actual walker bite and not the junkie bite that happened a month or two earlier.

Edit for clarification: I think he understood you fine. A walker bite doesn't kill fast. You have to die of the infection. This seems to be in line with previous bite deaths.

I think diddly_diddly_swag might be trolling you.

Im not. I think the OP should further clarify his comments though. Either Im having issues understanding or Mike was. Im not sure.

But typically victims slip into a coma or near-coma hours before dying and returning from the dead. That's an assumption, though. I don't know, because the only other character who died for sure from a bite infection was Amy, maybe Sophia and Andrea. Tyreese may have died so quickly because of grief amplified by fever and exsanguination.

You just made that coma stuff up in your head?
Amy didn't die from infection, she bled to death. Tyrese died from blood loss too. Andrea died from shooting herself.

Apart from admitting that the initial part is an assumption?

Amy didn't die from infection, she bled to death. Tyrese died from blood loss too. Andrea died from shooting herself.
I suppose I could be mistaken about those too, but I'm pretty certain Amy's bite wasn't severe enough for exsanguination.

1 walker bit a chunk out of her arm, another came up and took a chunk out of her neck.
But the fever is separate from death in and of itself. When people die, they turn within minutes (and sometimes instantly). When they are bitten, they die within days (and sometimes after at least two hours).
They can take many hours to turn, after death.
When did someone die from an infectious bite in 2 hours?

Nobody technically. I'm basing that off the ambiguity surrounding Tyreese's death.

Jim survived for at least a couple days after his bite.

The main series writers' have an internal set of criteria for how long it takes for people to turn after a bite/death and supposedly it's related to how much "goodness" is left in the character, which is why in the main series Jim lasted for a long time after his bite and Shane turned almost immediately after his death.

I think this same theory applies to Alejandro.

O, yeah. I forgot about him.

1 or 2 I believe.

Where did the writers say that?
We don't know how long Jim took to turn, because we never saw him dead.

They talked about it after Shane died and turned in like 2 seconds. I don't have a link for it on hand right now but it's referenced frequently at spoilthedead.
