Soundtrack

From ominous sonic experiments like ‘Escape The Station’ to classic, beating heart explorations like ‘Mother’, the duo lead listeners through the film’s dense emotional terrain with uncommon delicacy. A lone violin calls an ocean of strings out of the darkness on ‘Memories’. Synthesizers meander through space in ‘Layers Expanding Time’. And I simply cannot find words to describe the shimmering beauty of a song like ‘Falling Downward’. Just know that it may be the most immersive three minutes of film music you hear this year (press play above – trust me). But that’s the nature of O’Halloran’s and Haushka’s approach to Lion. Full emotional immersion. Every passing second brings a new chance to explore the sonic nature of life and love and home … and ultimately self. Even if O’Halloran’s and Haushka’s music for Lion never quite roars, it more than feeds the beast. And it leaves you with a profound sense of peace and calm. Sometimes that needs to be enough. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/features/soundtrack-listening-lion/
