Oscar Bait?

This totally scream Oscar bait. Regardless if it is going to be a good movie that is irrelevant. The release date, the cast, the producers,Based on a true story ETC all screams to me a best film nod come awards season?

reply

yeah, so what?

each year, about half of the films getting nominations are oscar baits

reply

What's wrong with that? Summer blockbusters have their own hallmarks and people don't bat an eyelash about it.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

What does that even mean? are you litterally saying all of these people got together to make this movie just for an award?

LOL you sadists https://youtu.be/6Zxy_dScjsM

This release date does not at all make it Oscar bate.

Such a release date would be in december and it would be limited.

I wholeheartedly disagree about both of those (the bottom two). The top comment is arguable. It's not a great indicator, but most best picture noms are Nov & later

reply

Most movies use that strategy. Nothing new.

If this movie is Oscar bait -- and who cares if it is? -- that's fine. The likelihood of its being nominated for Oscars led me to go see it -- and it's an excellent, moving movie. I can't recommend it enough.
