And what role does she have in the movie.

My first guess is Saroo's girlfriend, but does anyone know for sure?

'Lucy' is his first serious girlfriend. In real life she is 'Lisa' and they are still together.

I had the delight of seeing Rooney Mara film a scene with Dev Patel on location in my neighbourhood - on her birthday no less :)
