He certainly leads his section of the film, but he's only in half of it. I think either lead or supporting could be justified.
shareTWC is campaigning Patel as supporting, partly because the Best Supporting Actor race isn't as crowded. It's all strategy.
He could go either. If Patel and TWC want the nomination, Supporting is the right choice.
